Saturday oh Saturday...

Sighh. It has been a long, tiring yet fun day of cooking... cooking.. and umm some more cooking. :) Yes, tonight was my night to do dinner and I feel like I have been in the kitchen all day. I haven't though. Only (haha yeah only) half the day. Yep it was a long day. What was I doing in the kitchen all day do you ask? Well, I can tend to be a terrible perfectionist when there is competition is present and there was plenty of competition therefore plenty of time needed to be spent in the kitchen. I decided to make a little dish of heaven called Chicken Ala Dolly. (I still have no idea why it's called that) I got the recipe from Jackie who got it from Mrs. Demi who made it up I think along with Mrs. Muir. Or so I've heard. Anyway that isn't what took me all day. In addition to chicken i made Almond green salad, Anadama Garlic bread (don't ask about the name), from-scratch sweet dinner rolls, mashed potatoes, steamed brocolli (It was going to be green beans but that is another story...) and a chocolate chip cheesecake with strawberries on the side. I got the cheesecake (It was a 5 star recipe) and the dinner rolls recipe from allrecipes.com, thank you Jen. :) Everything turned out ok minus the mashed potatoes. "They are to dry, flavorless, and not fluffy enough" says kt, the food critic of the day. Mashed potatoes have never been my favorite thing to cook.. for some odd reason. :P But the chicken turned out ammaaaazing and everyone loved it. And that has nothing to do with my cooking because if I didn't follow the recipe to the punctuation mark I probly would have burned it or something. Just like me. :) But I did bone, skin and de-fat it all by myself after a little instruction from Mom. It was a very gratifying experience though a bit messy and umm... gross. Ok very messy. And slimy. And pink. Anyway besides the chicken, another highlight of my cooking was the garlic bread. The Anadma stuff. Yes, well I got a recipe from our cook book for this bread thinking it would be a nice appetizer. (you know how in outback and stuff they give you bread and salad before your meal.) It was just about the only not-normal bread that didn't call for any wacko ingredients which we did not have. So I was about half-way through mixing all the stuff together when I realized we did not have anywhere near a half-cup of molasses, we barely had a tablespoon. So I scrounged the cabinets and found the thing that most resembled molasses, honey. :) Yes, I know they are very different but they are both gooey and besides bread can always use a little bit of sweetness. So the next thing you know I was adding all my favorite spices and ingredients to make my own special bread that was nothing like the recipe. It happens a lot with me. Anyway I decided I couldn't really call it it's original name, Anadama bread since it wasn't really that so I decided to call it Anadama garlic bread even though I probly only but a 1/2 teaspoon of garlic salt in it.:P It actually turned out ok probly because I let it rise for over two hours. But it didn't taste garlicky so I probly should have changed the name but oh well. Enough about the bread. My favorite was the cheesecake. Mmmmm. Cheesecake. I wonder if you can have cheesecakes at your wedding instead of cake cake. Cuz I think I might do that... haha watch my husband be lactose-intolerant. :) hehe. Anyway it was amazing. I spend forever on it making sure it was just perfect and didn't over-flow or burn or explode. And it didn't! ( A very surprising thing considering my cheesecake making history... ahhemm) The rest of the stuff would be a bore to talk about so that's it on the food subject. But before I do change subjects, thanks to Jackie for the recipe and Jen for the website! :) Now that I am changing subjects I guess I might mention a church plant meeting tomorrow which I am very excited about! It's going to be a ton of fun. Oh that brings me to the subject of my favorite house. :) Well, now it's under contract!!! Thank God! He is sooo good. :) We are going to settlement in mid-July and we will probly move in between August and November. :) So thank you all soo much for praying and if you think about keep praying that everything will go smoothly and we will be able to get everything in our house packed up semi-quickly. It is beginning to seem like a monster of a task. But God is still good! :) Well I really have to go now because this post is literally turning into a book and I have to go do laundry. :) Thanks for reading...

the competition is cooking...

Me and my lovely sister Kt are having a cooking contest. We each make a dinner and then the rest of the family judges to see who's is better. Tonight Kt made Chicken Ceaser salad with brucetta and then lemon parafai with strawberries for dessert. If you have no idea what I am saying basically she had salad and bread w/ tomatoes on it and then like a creamy pudding with strawberries. Pretty fancy. I have to admit that she did a really great job and everything tasted amazing. The only thing I would change is that there should have been more variety cuz she only had the salad and brucetta for dinner, I would have done some little thing on the side too but that's beside that point. Unfortunately with royal meals come royal messes and kt sure did a great job leaving one of those in the kitchen for us to clean up. Haha real funny kt. Anyway, I am brainstorming on what I can make and it's not coming too well. So far I know I want to make something light and summery as an entree (like a pasta or something) and maybe something a little fancier for dessert. Like a cheesecake. But somehow I don't think those two go together real well. :P Humph. Maybe angel food cake and strawberries??? But that's too simple. I want something a little bit more complicated. Are there any talented chefs out there who are willing to give me some advice? Cuz I sure could use it...

camping...

So we just got back from camping this weekend and I am dead tired. We went with the Bittner's and the Everett's community groups and it was a blast. (besides the fact I got next to no sleep)  We got there at like dinner time on friday and came back today. It was a ton of fun cuz we got to camp in the same spot that we used to get when we went camping with all the caregroups leaders 5 years ago. I miss those days. Anyway we went to Hawk falls on Saturday, and I jumped off the little ledge thing twice, once with a snake in the water which was extremely cold. (The water, not the snake) We also went to the beach where we played volleyball the whole time. But Caujah just ate sand. :) It was a blast. Last night we had a sleepover at Liv Everett's tent and I didn't get much sleep. Those things really shouldn't be called sleep overs, it really doesn't make any sense at all since you usually don't get any sleep. My poor sissy kt felt really sick yesterday though so that stunk but she is much better now in fact she is out shopping. Leave it to kt. :) Today we to Boulder Field which was a giant blast but now my feet are wishing they went a little slower. It was kind of a daze till Saturday night though because our whole family was waiting for a call from the realtor to tell us whether or not the seller's accepted our offer on my favorite house. I was praying like crazy the whole time and I couldn't stop thinking about it. She called on Saturday night when we were cleaning up for dinner and said that they accepted the offer!!!!!!! As long as all the complicated inspections go alright and we get it under contract we will probly have a new home by mid July. Pretty exciting!!!!! We aren't going to move till January though I don't think. So thank you all so much for praying! It so appreciated. I have to go unpack and sleep now so ttyl. By the way i missed you all at church today!!! :(

baking badness

Did you know that is it even possible to burn rice krispies? Well it is in case anyone is wondering... I left them to 'cool' (haha yeah right) on top of the stove which I had on to melt the marshmallows. I thought I turned it off but apparently I must have been day-dreaming or something cuz it sure wasn't off. :P Soon enough we smelled something funny and later found the glass pan all black and my rice krispies looked like charcoal. I think I'll start a new recipe. It'd be famous. Becky's burnt badness.  Brilliant. Anyway, we are going to make an offer on my favorite house ever!!!! YAYAYAYAY!!! Pray that we get it. Cuz obviously it's still not our house yet and someone might make an offer higher than us so please pray that God's will will be done. :) Thanks. Nothing else is new... we had our last compass class of the year today :( it was lot's of fun. And I had a blast walking around and talking about the silliest stuff w/ my friends. :) I love them. I have to go eat dinner, hope you enjoyed my post and hopefully I'll keep posting.

house-hunting...

So we looked at a house yesterday that I love a lot. It's super pretty, has everything we want and more and is a great location and price. We are going to have a family meeting about it this afternoon to see what everyone thinks so please pray that God gives Dad and Mom wisdom. Thanks guys. Also please pray that I wouldn't be devastated if it doesn't work out... and that I'll trust God's plan whatever it is.  :) Here is a pic:

my weekend...

Well my Uncle and Aunt are going to stay over our house for like a week and we will be gone camping so I figured this is one of the last times this week I'll get to post. :( Anyway, I don't have anymore clothes to post (they'll be coming in the summer, I promise) but I can still post about other stuff in life. :)

I had a very fun weekend. First, on Fri I went to one of my very close friends house for her birthday celebration and had a wonderful time. God reminded me again how blessed I am to have such great friends. :) We didn't get back till around 10 and it was a blast. But then I couldn't fall asleep when we got home so I stayed up watching bedtime stories till 1:30. Funfun. I got up the next morning and did house chores and yard work. The best experience of my life. haha. Then we went to cross culture and it was the best ever. (for real) :) God convicted me of being centered on what the world thinks and not making God and spending time in the word my greatest priority. I felt like God was not the center of my life, not my everything. God literally stopped me in my tracks and turned me around to be headed in the right direction. He is so faithful. I was crying like crazy and I felt soo blessed to have Dad and kt there. It was amazing. So after cc we had an awesome game of dogdeball and then I talked to friends for awhile then we went home. Then on Sunday we took our neighbor to churh and had an awesome time introducing her to everyone she wanted to meet and some more. :) After that we got to go shopping and bowling and it was the bomb. And Jackie your nose does not look like a rynoserous'. :) Ems didn't mean it. So anyway that is my amazing weekend and I now have to go finish folding luandry. yay. Hope eveyone has a great week! :)

Oh and I'm working on coming up with a cute logo to stick on my clothes tags. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. :D

Brandywine Grace, a.k.a the church plant...

Alright,
Well my sis and Jen both posted about this subject so I figured I'd keep the excitement (and bitterness) going and post too. :) (I know I'm the worst copy-cat ever) Here are my thoughts if anyone is interested:

I'm very very sad to leave Covenant. It has been my life for my whole life. I've never ever been in another church and I never really have wanted to be. My best friend is there, and most of my other close friends are too and it's devastating to think about going to different church than them. It's going to be so different. But God is still amazingly faithful to give me grace to go with a whole heart. Even though it's going to be really hard, I am EXTREMELY excited too. I mean, I get to be a part of God's plan in bringing others to Christ! That is a great privilege. It's going to be tough, moving, and leaving my closest friends, but at the same time it's going to be so great to be able to reach out to unbelievers more often and meet new people and start new relationships. (while keeping the old ones of course) I'm really looking forward to getting to know the girls that are going and build relationships with them. So right now I'd say I'm very excited and looking forward to going, and very sad. It's bittersweet. :)

names...

Ok so i'm thinking about starting my own tiny little clothes line this summer and I need some name ideas. I'm super un-creative when it comes to this kind of thing so let me know if you can think of anything. All I've thought of so far is Bece (it's my nickname sort of) (and it's pronounced Beece) and BeceD (as in beast) I don't really like BeceD though cuz it sounds scary. (Don't ask me why the d is capitalized, I just did it that way, that's my only explanation) My little sister suggested Buttons which I like but is a little too cute I think. I need help desperately if you can tell.. I'd appreciate any ideas???

sketches...

I found a couple more pictures not worth posting but I am posting them anyway. :) The first one is of one of the tea cups from my Mom's wedding cina, the second is of our adorable dog, Tucker. I actually drew that one right before he escaped at 11 at night while our cousins were over. We ended up running around the neighborhood for a half hour with wet hair (we just finished washing crazy makeup off our faces) and I didn't have any shoes on. My little sister's hair was frozen solid when we finally got in. It was one of the funnest sleep overs I've had I think. :) The last one is of a purse my Dad got me when he went to Uganda (he went through London)

Dear readers,
Hi. I'm Becky and I'm finally starting a blog that I have wanted to start for awhile. It's going to have all of my artsy craftsy stuff that I do in my life. I know I only have one thing right now, but thank God summer is coming quickly and I will have lot's more time to make more artsy craftsy stuff and upload pics. But for now I only have one lonely little spring dress that I made awhile ago. It's kind of boring but it's the only thing I have a good enough picture of. :P
